2011 Volkswagen Beetle |
It has been more than 10 years since the Volkswagen Beetle has received a significant refresh, but for 2011, its time has finally come and it appears to be coming in a major way. Volkswagen’s most famous vehicle is targeted for significant changes as a part of Volkswagen’s worldwide expansion as they attempt to supplant Toyota as the world’s leading automaker by 2018.
Performance
High performance capabilities were never the hallmark of the Volkswagen Beetle so much as reliability and the “fun to drive” nature of the car. There will be several different performance and exterior configurations available on the Beetle for 2011 which will allow buyers to customize their buying to suit their priorities.Exterior Features
The exterior of the Volkswagen Beetle is, surprisingly where the most significant changes are expected, which may be seen by some as an assault on a classic icon. Gone are the feminine rounded curves of the new Beetle to be replaced in 2011 by more “manly” lines and an elongated, flattened roofline. This is a significant departure from the car’s look since the car first rolled off of the assembly lines in Germany during the Second World War.The new lowered roof will streamline the car quite a bit and probably serve to increase fuel-economy, especially given the greater engine options that will be available. There are also rumors that the 2011 Beetle will have a two seater and extended four-seater variation for those with larger friends to get around town. Finally, pictures of the 2011 Beetle seem to suggest that for the first time a truck-like convertible option may be in the works? Beetle enthusiasts have much to keep their mouth watering for in the coming year as Volkswagen finalizes their new model.
